Consultant Bio

GAIL BENNETT, RN, MSN, CIC

Gail Bennett co-founded ICP Associates, a national consulting company, in 1986 and currently serves as Executive Director of the company. Gail has been involved in Infection Control for over 20 years. She has a Masters Degree in Adult Health Nursing and is Certified in Infection Control. She currently serves as a consultant to hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies and industry; provides presentations for professional associations; and coordinates national training programs. She has authored three chapters of the APIC Curriculum for Infection Control Practice (1983), a chapter on Consulting in the APIC text titled, Infection Control and Applied Epidemiology, Principles and Practice (1996), a chapter on Consulting in the APIC Text of Infection Control and Epidemiology (2000) as well as various journal articles.

She has authored a handbook titled Getting Started: A Handbook for Nurse Consultants, two manuals for Infection Control including one for hospitals and one for long term care. She has published articles on Infection Control in Caring Magazine, the American Journal of Infection Control, the APIC Long Term Care Newsletter, and the Journal of AAOHN. Consultation includes infection control and preparation for JCAHO surveys. She started and coordinates the ICP Associates three day basic training program for infection control which has been held in multiple states since 1989. She serves as a motivational and educational speaker in numerous states each year.

ROBERT SHARBAUGH, PhD

Dr. Sharbaugh has over twenty years experience in clinical epidemiology, microbiology, and infection control. He currently serves as the International Director of Infection Control for Hill Rom Corporation. In addition, he provides consultation to hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, and industry. He provides presentations throughout the United States and globally on topics related to infection control and epidemiology. His past experience includes Associate Professor of Surgery (Microbiology and Immunology) at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is an author of numerous infection control publications. He has served on the editorial boards of OR Manager, Home Care Provider, and the American Journal for Infection Control. He has served on the Certification Board of Infection Control, as a member and as chairman to the Association for Professionals In Infection Control (APIC) Education Committee, as a member of the APIC Guidelines Committee, and as President of APIC to name just a few of his appointments. He is a much sought after lecturer in the field of Infection Control and Epidemiology.

CONNIE STEED, RN, BSN, CIC

Connie Steed, RN, BSN, CIC, is the Manager, of Infection Control at the Greenville Hospital System, Greenville, South Carolina. She received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. Connie has also been certified in Infection control (CIC) since 1985. She has practiced in the field of infection control and epidemiology for over 20 years and has received awards for her leadership and clinical achievements. Connie is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and has served the organization on both the local and national level. Connie has presented over 150 invited lectures since 1990 and has authored several texts and abstracts. She consults with health care organizations in the areas of occupational health and infection control.

LINDA SPAULDING, RN, CIC

Linda Spaulding owns an International Infection Control Consulting firm formed in 1994. InCo and Associates is registered in Honolulu, Hawaii. Linda holds a degree in nursing and is certified in Infection Control through the Certification Board of Infection Control. She also holds her Certification in Medical/Surgical Nursing through the American Nursing Association (ANA). Linda has experience in Pediatric & Medical/Surgical Nursing, Geriatrics, and Intensive Care. She has worked on many outbreak investigations in regards to Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus (VRE), Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus (MRSA), Hemodialysis, Influenza and Scabies. She has done many presentations for the community and other healthcare facilities regarding infection control. She is Past-President of the Hawaii Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. She has experience in infection control for adults as well as pediatrics. InCo and Associates sponsors a 2-day Basic Training in Infection Control conference annually in Hawaii and assists with training programs on the mainland. Remaining current in infection control is a priority of this firm. InCo and Associates communicates regularly with key individuals from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, GA, the State Health Department, and other Infection Control Professionals on the mainland, and attends mainland conferences to stay current with changes related to infectious diseases and infection control practices.
